Atlas was the leader of the Titans, son of Iapetus and Clymene, and brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius. The titans wared with the gods and lost. Zeus condemned Atlas to eternally stand on the western side of Gaea (the earth) holding Uranus (the sky) on his shoulders. Atlas represents strength, endurance and heavy burdens.
